Financial Accountability

Founded in December 1984 from a coalition of existing grassroots organizations, FCAN continues to be the vehicle that allows ordinary citizens to win on critical issues. FCAN stands for an America where everyone gets their fair share, does their fair share, and pays their fair share; and where everyone plays by the same rules. FCAN is an affiliate of Fair Share and is affiliated with People's Action, and Consumer Federation of America

FCAN's members and staff build grassroots support on issues, work with government agencies and the media, and lobby elected officials. Program staff and Board members work to develop and mobilize activists from dozens of allied and affiliated organizations, including environmental, church, labor, civic, and senior citizen groups.

FCAN staff use many types of communication, but we believe nothing is better than face to face, whether with a community organizer or a canvasser. We also use all the social media available as well as traditional media. The goal is to provide necessary information to consumers so they can make educated decisions on matters of importance to the community.
